995047254WHEREAS, the Commonwealth provides for memorializing and protecting certain graves and cemeteries of veterans of the Confederate Army; and
WHEREAS, such provisions are found in Chapter 22, Title 10.1 of the Code of Virginia; and
WHEREAS, no similar provision now exists in Virginia law for the restoration and maintenance of the burial grounds and graves of veterans of the Revolutionary War; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the Department of Historic Resources, in cooperation with the Sons of the American Revolution [ and the Daughters of the American Revolution ] , be requested to compile a list of sites where Revolutionary War veterans are buried and to prepare an analysis of the cost of the renovation and preservation of such sites; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates transmit a copy of this resolution to the Department of Historic Resources in order that it may be apprised of the sense of the General Assembly in this matter.
The Department of Historic Resources shall complete its work in time to submit its findings and recommendations to the Governor and the 2000 Session of the General Assembly as provided in the procedures of the Division of Legislative Automated Systems for the processing of legislative documents.
