Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 33.1-206.1 as follows:

§ 33.1-206.1. Commissioner to establish uniform designs and installation criteria for highway signs indicating the soil and water conservation districts; other signs prohibited; penalty.

The Commissioner shall prescribe uniform design and installation criteria for signs indicating soil and water conservation districts. When erection of such a sign is requested by a soil and water conservation district commission, the Department shall erect such a sign or signs, consistent with criteria prescribed by the Commissioner. All costs associated with the production, installation, and maintenance of signs installed under this section shall be borne by the soil and water conservation district commission requesting them.
