992731129Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Title 22.1 a section numbered 22.1-212.2:01, as follows:
§ 22.1-212.2:01. Public school access to information infrastructure.
A. Every public school furnishing student access to information infrastructure services shall, in connection therewith, immediately obtain and implement, or contract with persons to provide for the implementation of, computer technology inhibiting, to the extent technically feasible, access to materials harmful to juveniles, obscene materials, and child pornography. Local school boards shall report annually to the Superintendent of Public Instruction regarding their compliance with the requirements of this section.
B. For the purpose of this section:
“Child pornography” means the materials described in § 18.2-374.1:1.
“Harmful to juveniles” has the meaning set forth in § 18.2-390.
“Information infrastructure” has the meaning set forth in § 2.1-804.
“Obscene” has the meaning set forth in § 18.2-372.
