Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding sections numbered 8.01-47.1 and 22.1-277. 01:3 as follows:

§ 8.01-47.1. Liability of school personnel for certain searches.

Notwithstanding the provisions of §§ 8.01-47 and 8.01-220.1:2, any teacher, instructor, principal, school administrator, school coordinator, guidance counselor, or other professional, administrative, or clerical staff member or other personnel of any elementary or secondary school who causes a student to disrobe fully or partially and be searched shall be liable for any civil damages incurred.

§ 22.1-277. 01:3. Strip searches prohibited.

No teacher, instructor, principal, school administrator, school coordinator, guidance counselor, or other professional, administrative, or clerical staff member or other personnel of any elementary or secondary school shall strip search a student.
