An Act to amend and reenact § 22.1-278.2 of the Code of Virginia, relating to school board regulation of use of laser pointers.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 22.1-278.2 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 22.1-278.2. Authority for regulation of use of beepers or other portable communications devices and laser pointers.

Any school division in the Commonwealth may regulate the use or possession of beepers or other portable communications devices and laser pointers by students on school property or attending school functions or activities and establish disciplinary procedures pursuant to § 22.1-277 of the Code of Virginia to which students violating such regulations will be subject.
