and who produce improvement in student academic achievement shall be eligible for financial awards according to criteria established by the Board of Education. The criteria may include, but need not be limited to, student scores on Standards of Learning tests, student improvement on Standards of Learning tests, and successful remediation of students who fail Standards of Learning tests. The Board shall determine amounts to be awarded to teachers from funds appropriated for this purpose.
