SJ 162 Study; meat and poultry inspection.
Introduced by: Emmett W. Hanger, Jr. | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Meat and poultry inspection. Requests the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to study program alternatives that would allow small farmers to sell meat on the farm directly to consumers. Currently, small poultry farmers have this opportunity, but there is no similar mechanism in place for small livestock farmers. At the conclusion of the study, the Department is to recommend a program in a form suitable for submission to the USDA and Virginia's Congressional Delegation for assistance in implementation.
