1998 SESSION
SB 299 Alcoholic beverages; first offender under age 21.
Introduced by: W. Roscoe Reynolds | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Unlawful purchase or possession of alcohol. Creates a first offender status for these offenses. Upon finding that an underage accused is a first offender and that the facts are sufficient to find the accused guilty, the court may order that the person be fingerprinted and place him on probation, which may include a period of license suspension for up to one year and other terms and conditions as the court may impose. Upon satisfaction of the terms and conditions, the charge shall be dismissed without entry of an adjudication of guilt.
The bill is modeled after the first offender statute used in misdemeanor drug cases. The bill is recommended by the Committee on District Courts.
This bill is almost identical to HB 702.
