SUMMARY:

Study; guidelines for alternative educational settings. Requests the Board of Education, in conjunction with the Virginia Commission on Youth, to develop guidelines for alternative educational settings for middle and high school students. The guidelines are to include the recommended number of alternative settings per 1,000 middle and high school students and the average incremental cost thereof. In developing such guidelines, the Board shall consider current Virginia law and regulations governing student disciplinary options and alternative settings; standards and guidelines for alternative settings in other states; and such other issues as it deems appropriate.
