1998 SESSION
HJ 116 Study; school construction costs.
Introduced by: Joe T. May | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Study; School construction costs. This resolution would have requested the Secretary of Education to study public school capital needs and to specifically (i) review capital needs for new and obsolete facilities; (ii) compare school construction costs across the Commonwealth and analyze the basis for any disparities in such costs; (iii) examine the increasing rate of school construction costs as it compares to increases in inflation and other construction market costs; and (iv) consider the work and recommendations of recent legislative and executive branch studies, such as the Commission on Infrastructure. However, the resolution was passed by indefinitely in lieu of a letter from the Speaker to the Commission on Educational Infrastructure to incorporate the issues in its study.
