SUMMARY:

Virginia Retirement System; prior credits. Permits vested members of the VRS who have 25 years of service to purchase up to four years of service credit for active duty military service or service in the retirement system of another state. Currently they may purchase no more than three years of service credit. The bill also allows vested VRS members with 25 years of service to purchase a maximum of four years of service credit for service in a political subdivision or public school system of any state. This bill is identical to HB 669.
