1998 SESSION
HB 1289 Gifted education programs.
Introduced by: Mary T. Christian | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Gifted education programs. Requires the Board of Education to require local school boards to submit the annual report, "Programs for Gifted Education," to the Department of Education. Currently, Board of Education regulations require the submission of the annual report; however, there is no requirement for accountability on the use of state funds for gifted education, and, too often, local gifted education advisory committees do not participate in the development of the report as required.
This bill is the recommendation of the Joint Subcommittee Studying the Educational Needs of Certain Underserved Gifted Students.
