SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 254
Commending Thomas O. Beane.

WHEREAS, Thomas O. Beane, a Manassas attorney, has served the citizens of Prince William County in a variety of positions for much of the past three decades; and

WHEREAS, a native of Manassas, Thomas Beane graduated from Osbourn High School, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond, his master's degree from the University of Virginia, and his law degree from the University of Richmond; and

WHEREAS, in private practice in Manassas from 1964 until 1995, Thomas Beane served for most of that time as Commissioner in Chancery for the Circuit Court of Prince William County; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Beane was appointed a member of the Prince William County School Board in 1968 and served for more than 11 years, including a term as chairman from 1977 to 1979; and

WHEREAS, while a member of the school board, Thomas Beane was on the board of directors of the Virginia School Boards Association; and

WHEREAS, appointed to the Prince William County Electoral Board in 1981, Thomas Beane served for 16 years, including terms as secretary and chairman; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Beane was for many years a member of the Manassas Kiwanis Club, which he served as president in 1972-73, and was a longtime member of the Prince William County Bar Association, serving as president in 1980; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Beane has combined a successful law career with a wide variety of community-service activities, to the benefit of the citizens of Prince William County; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend Thomas O. Beane for his singular dedication to serving his community and the Commonwealth; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Thomas O. Beane in recognition of his many years of exemplary service to Prince William County, Manassas, and Manassas Park.
