WHEREAS, Judith C. Anderson, political director of the Democratic Party of Virginia, is retiring on February 13, 1998, thus ending an exceptional career of service to the party and the political process in Virginia; and
WHEREAS, a graduate of Virginia State University, Judy Anderson has filled many roles since serving as legislative aide to then-Senator L. Douglas Wilder in the early 1980s; and
WHEREAS, Judy Anderson was deputy director of Governor Charles S. Robb's transition office in 1982; was executive assistant in the Office of the Lieutenant Governor from 1985-1987; and was director of the inauguration of Governor Wilder in 1990; and
WHEREAS, Judy Anderson has long been active in the Richmond community, serving on the boards of the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, the Richmond Arts Council, Richmond Community Hospital, and Housing Opportunities Made Equal; and
WHEREAS, Judy Anderson has also been an active volunteer for the city's Meals on Wheels program and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta and the James River Valley Chapter of The Links, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, long active in the Henrico County Democratic Committee, Judy Anderson has served as political director for the Democratic Party of Virginia since April of 1994; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Judith C. Anderson on the completion of an exemplary career of service to Richmond, the Democratic Party, and the Commonwealth; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Judith C. Anderson as an expression of the General Assembly's appreciation for her many contributions to the political process in Virginia.
