WHEREAS, Commonwealth Catholic Charities was established in 1923 in the basement of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Richmond, where it began offering adoption and counseling services; and

WHEREAS, in response to the Catholic mission to respect diversity, promote human dignity, and value families, Commonwealth Catholic Charities provides high-quality, compassionate human services to all people, especially the most vulnerable; and

WHEREAS, Commonwealth Catholic Charities' vision is to provide an expanding range of innovative services, in partnership with the Catholic community, other faith communities, and human services agencies; and

WHEREAS, Commonwealth Catholic Charities provides support, help, and hope to individuals and families needing counseling, children and couples waiting for adoption, young teens and women with unplanned pregnancies, the deaf and hard of hearing, the elderly and disabled needing special care, and those needing emergency food or financial assistance; and

WHEREAS, Commonwealth Catholic Charities, with five offices, has for 75 years offered a variety of vital human services to communities across Central and Southwestern Virginia; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Commonwealth Catholic Charities on the occasion of its 75th anniversary of service to the citizens of Virginia; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Commonwealth Catholic Charities as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration and gratitude for the exceedingly important work of this dedicated organization.
