1998 SESSION
983050488WHEREAS, legislation has been introduced in both houses of the United States Congress to redesignate Washington National Airport as the "Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport"; and
WHEREAS, this legislation, H.R. 2625 and S. 1297, aims to honor one of America's greatest and best-loved presidents; and
WHEREAS, naming the travel gateway into the nation's capital after Ronald Reagan is a fitting tribute to his stature as a world leader and his legacy of prosperity and freedom; and
WHEREAS, it would be most appropriate to pass this legislation so that the dedication of the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport could be completed on or before the former President's 87th birthday on February 6, 1998; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby urge the immediate passage of legislation renaming Washington National Airport the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates transmit copies of this resolution to the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, the President of the United States Senate, and the members of the Virginia Congressional delegation so that they may be apprised of the sense of the General Assembly of Virginia.
