Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 56-502 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 56-502. Regulation by State Corporation Commission.

Every cooperative organized under this chapter shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the State Corporation Commission with respect to telephone services and facilities in the same manner and to the same extent as are other similar utilities under the laws of Virginia except that the powers of the Commission over the rates and service of cooperatives shall be as defined by this chapter, and except that the Commission shall have no jurisdiction over the rates and types of service offerings of the cooperative and except that Commission shall have no jurisdiction over the rates and types of service offerings of the cooperative and, where a cooperative establishes a cable television system, it shall be subject to § 15.1-23.115.2-2108. Nothing herein shall limit the Commission's jurisdiction over any cooperative with regard to service standards and any such standards shall be applicable to cooperatives to the same extent applicable to local exchange telephone companies.

2. That §§ 56-501 and 56-501.01 of the Code of Virginia are repealed.
