Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 2-426 of Article II of Chapter 358 of the Acts of Assembly of 1958 is amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 2-426. To prescribe penalties for the violation of any town ordinance, rule, or regulation, not exceeding five hundred dollars or twelve months imprisonment in jail, or both, but not exceeding any penalty established by the Commonwealth for a similar offense.
