An Act to amend and reenact § 46.2-749.2:13 of the Code of Virginia, relating to special license plates commemorating the 400th anniversary of the establishment of the Jamestown settlement; fees.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 46.2-749.2:13 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 46.2-749.2:13. Special license plates commemorating the 400th anniversary of the establishment of the Jamestown settlement; fees.

A. On receipt of an application therefor on or after November 1, 1997, and payment of the fee prescribed by this section, the Commissioner shall issue special license plates commemorating the 400th anniversary of the establishment of the Jamestown settlement.

B. For each set of license plates issued under this section, the Commissioner shall charge, in addition to the prescribed cost of state license plates, a one-time fee of fifteen dollars at the time the plates are issued. For each such fifteen-dollar fee collected, five dollars shall be paid into the state treasury and credited to a special nonreverting fund known as the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation Fund, established within the Department of Accounts, to be paid annually to the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation.

C. On receipt of an application therefor from a member of the Senate or House of Delegates, the Commissioner shall issue to the applicant special license plates combining the designs of special license plates issued under subsection A of this section and special license plates issued to members of the Senate or House of Delegates, as the case may be, under § 46.2-736.1. The fee for issuance of special license plates under this subsection shall be the same as provided in subsection B of this section.

C. D. The provisions of subdivisions 1 and 2 of subsection B of § 46.2-725 shall not apply to license plates issued under this section.

D. E. The provisions of this section shall expire on January 1, 2013.
