SUMMARY:

Study; Health status and conditions of African-Americans in Virginia. Directs the Joint Commission on Health Care in cooperation with the Office on Minority Health in the State Department of Health to study the health status and conditions of African-American citizens in the Commonwealth. The Commission shall, among other things, determine the health status of African-Americans in the Commonwealth; identify the diseases and health conditions prevalent among such persons; determine the extent to which health promotion activities are directed to this population, and whether such activities are effective; ascertain the types of medical services frequently accessed by African-Americans; and determine Virginia's progress towards meeting the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Healthy People 2000 goals relative to minority groups.
