1997 SESSION
SB 966 Transition of city to town status; referendum.
Introduced by: L. Louise Lucas | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Transition of city to town status; referendum. Requires that a proposed city transition to town status be approved by voters in both the city and the impacted county. Currently, a referendum is not required in either locality. Also, a distinction is made between the special court order declaring the city eligible for town status and the special court order granting town status. The order declaring the city eligible for town status triggers the referendum. The order granting town status is entered only if the referendum passes.
