SUMMARY:
Accident and sickness insurance; coverage for reconstructive breast surgery. Requires health insurers, health maintenance organizations and corporations providing accident and sickness subscription contracts to provide coverage for reconstructive breast surgery. Reconstructive breast surgery is performed as a result of a mastectomy to reestablish symmetry between the two breasts. The bill's provisions are applicable to policies, plans and contracts delivered, issued for delivery or renewed on or after July 1, 1997. They are not applicable to short-term travel, accident only, limited or specified disease policies, or to short-term nonrenewable policies of not more than six months' duration.
