SUMMARY:
Computation of Virginia taxable income; standard deduction amounts. Increases the amount of the standard deduction for individual income tax purposes from $3,000 to $3,600 for single taxpayers; from $5,000 to $6,000 for married taxpayers filing jointly; and from $2,500 to $3,000 for married taxpayers filing separately. The measure is effective for taxable years beginning on and after January 1, 1998.
