SB 919 Health insurance contracts; calculation of cost-sharing provisions.

Introduced by: Jane H. Woods | all patrons    ...    notes | add to my profiles

SUMMARY:

Accident and sickness insurance contracts; calculation of cost-sharing provisions. Allows health insurers, health service plans, and HMO's to bill covered individuals for the actual cost of services, even if that amount is less than that paid to the provider. Currently, a covered individual who is required to pay a specified percentage of the cost of service does so based on the total amount actually paid or payable to a provider. Contractual relationships between a provider and a health insurer, a health service plan, or an HMO may result in the provider being paid more than the actual cost of the covered service.
