SB 887 Proceedings of health regulatory boards.

Introduced by: Stephen D. Newman | all patrons    ...    notes | add to my profiles

SUMMARY:

Proceedings of health regulatory boards. Provides all health regulatory boards with the authority to appoint special conference committees to conduct informal hearings (conferences) in disciplinary proceedings. The order of the special conference committees will become final 30 days after service unless a written request for a hearing is received by the relevant board during this time. Three days are added if service is by mail. The board or a panel of the relevant board will hear the matter if a timely written request is submitted and the action of the special conference committee will be vacated. Currently, the Boards of Nursing and Medicine already have detailed authority to appoint special conference committees. The monetary penalty statute and the sections setting out these two boards' procedures are amended to provide consistency with the new authority for all health regulatory boards to appoint special conference committees.
