SB 865 Disposition of papers in ended cases.

Introduced by: Malfourd W. Trumbo | all patrons    ...    notes | add to my profiles

SUMMARY:

Disposition of papers in ended cases. Allows the destruction of files on (i) pre-1988 civil appeals cases that were dismissed under prior Code provisions and (ii) dismissed felony cases 10 years after dismissal. The bill also allows the destruction of case files on property settlement agreements documenting land titles. These are unnecessary because, in order to be effective, any real estate division pursuant to such agreement must be contained in a court order or a deed, which is never subject to destruction.
