1997 SESSION
SB 858 Employees serving on an employment-at-will basis.
Introduced by: Emily Couric | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Confirmation procedures and notices; confirmation of certain employees serving on an employment-at-will basis. Requires that the General Assembly confirm the appointment of employees hired to serve on an employment-at-will basis as chief deputy or equivalent or confidential assistant for policy or administration of an executive branch agency. These employees are exempted from the Virginia Personnel Act. Appointments made during a session of the General Assembly require confirmation during the session and appointments made during the interim require confirmation during the first 30 days of the next regular session. The bill provides further that the Secretary of the Commonwealth notify the General Assembly of appointments requiring confirmation and that the Clerk of each house notify the appropriate committees of the house of appointments to full-time paid positions requiring confirmation, circulate pertinent information, and assist in arranging interviews as requested by the committee chairmen.
