SB 835 Definition of death.

SUMMARY:

Definition of death. Revises the definition of brain death by adding a requirement for the absence of brain stem reflexes to the existing requirements for absence of spontaneous brain functions and spontaneous respiratory functions. This bill also clarifies that only physicians determine death by providing technical amendments to the provisions relating to registered nurses pronouncing death when caring for patients for whom death has been anticipated.
