SUMMARY:

Insurance fraud; delegation of related duties to the Department of State Police. Creates the crime of insurance fraud, punishable as larceny, for acts involving property and casualty insurance transactions. The Department of State Police will develop and maintain an Insurance Fraud Investigation Unit within the Bureau of Criminal Investigation to initiate independent inquiries and conduct independent investigations into fraudulent acts involving property and casualty insurance transactions. This activity would be funded by premium assessments on all property and casualty insurance companies writing policies in the Commonwealth.
