SB 725 Certain data required for school board employees.

Introduced by: Martin E. Williams | all patrons    ...    notes | add to my profiles

SUMMARY:

Certain data required for school board employees. Requires school boards to search the state child abuse and neglect registry for information on any applicants for employment requiring direct contact with students after July 1, 1997. This bill also requires all school board applications to require certification that the applicant for a job requiring direct contact with students has not been the subject of a founded case of child abuse and neglect. The applicant may be required to pay the cost of the search at the discretion of the school board. The school board may, from such funds as may be available for this purpose, however, pay for the search. Any applicant denied employment because of the information appearing on his record in the registry must be provided a copy of the information. The information is confidential and must not be disseminated by the school board. The registry referred to in this bill is maintained pursuant to § 63.1-248.8.
