Introduced by: Charles L. Waddell | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Prior VRS service credit for certain teachers. Grants up to two years of VRS service credit to any vested member who is a teacher who voluntarily took a leave of absence as required by local school board policies related to pregnancy or childbirth. Currently, teachers may receive such credit only if the leave of absence was involuntary. This provision applies only to members on such leave from a covered position prior to July 1, 1974, who have not withdrawn all accumulated contributions and reenter service in a covered position. The school division which had the policy in place is liable for the cost of providing the service credit unless it opts out by notifying the Board of Trustees on or before July 1, 1997.
