Increases the maximum salary that may be paid annually to members of the certain school boards as follows: Arlington County school board from $7,000 to $8,000; Fairfax County school board from $8,000 to $12,500; Fluvanna County school board from $1,800 to $2,400; Goochland County school board from $1,800 to $2,400; Isle of Wight school board from $2,000 to $4,000; Spotsylvania County school board from $3,600 to $7,500; and York County school board from $3,000 to $4,000. Under current law, school boards whose membership is elected in whole or in part must approve their salary increases before being awarded any salary increase. The school board's process for approving salary increases must be consistent with the procedures applicable to salary changes for the relevant local governing body. HB 1693 also amends this section; although the two bills are different, there is no conflict.
