Introduced by: Mark L. Earley | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Assault or endangerment of a police officer. Increases the penalty for assault or assault and battery against a law-enforcement officer from a Class 1 misdemeanor to a Class 6 felony, and eliminates the minimum, mandatory term of confinement in jail. The bill also expands the definition of the offense to cover assault by means of any dangerous weapon, rather than simply use of a firearm, and includes willful, wanton endangerment by use of a motor vehicle.
