SUMMARY:
Virginia Innovative Remedial Education Program. Establishes the Virginia Innovative Remedial Education Program to support innovative options and instructional approaches for the remediation of students who are educationally at-risk, have failed the Literacy Passport Test, or have been identified for remedial summer school attendance. The program will provide for up to 10 pilot programs located throughout the state. Such programs will be funded in accordance with the appropriation act from such funds as may be appropriated for this purpose. The grants established in this bill will be available by January 1, 1999.
