SUMMARY:

Advisory Commission on the Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind. Establishes the 10-member Advisory Commission on the Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind, comprised of five members of the House of Delegates and one citizen member, appointed by the Speaker of the House of Delegates, and three members of the Senate and one citizen member, appointed by the Senate Committee on Privileges and Elections. The Advisory Commission is to monitor the operations of the Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind and is to advise the Board of Education and submit recommendations to ensure the maintenance of a high quality and cost-effective program of study and a safe and nurturing residential environment at the schools. This measure is identical to SB 1125.
