SUMMARY:
Medicaid; breast cancer treatment. Requires the state plan for Medicaid to provide treatment for breast cancer through dose-intensive chemotherapy with autologous bone marrow transplants or stem cell support when performed at a clinical program authorized to provide such therapies as a part of clinical trials sponsored by the National Cancer Institute. Persons previously covered under the plan cannot be denied coverage due to a preexisting condition. This language tracks that language adopted in recent years for state employees and other insurers.
