SUMMARY:
Public assistance; Virginia Initiative for Employment Not Welfare (VIEW). Provides that a local department of social services, in lieu of the work requirement, may place VIEW participants in a job training program that is short-term, designed to train individuals for actual job openings in the local labor market and for which the individual's locality has entered into a performance-based contract in which a portion of the funds awarded the training entity is based on the trainees' ability to acquire and retain jobs. However, the VIEW participant remains subject to the two-year time limit for receipt of AFDC financial assistance.
