SUMMARY:
Study; school food services and federal standards. Establishes a nine-member joint subcommittee to study compliance with new federal standards regarding school nutrition programs by the school divisions of the Commonwealth. The joint subcommittee is to (i) determine ways to assist school divisions in meeting these federal standards; (ii) explore the feasibility, fiscal impact, and cost-effectiveness of the employment of licensed or certified dietitians or nutritionists by local school boards; and (iii) document the nexus between good nutrition, learning, and child health in Virginia.
