SUMMARY:
Study; home schooling. Requests the Board of Education to study the issue of access to public school classes and extracurricular activities by Virginia's home schooled students. The Board is requested to identify and examine the policies and practices of the local school boards pertaining to school board regulations which permit or deny home schoolers access to classes and extracurricular activities. The Board is also requested to identify the types of public school courses and extracurricular activities in which such children frequently participate, determine the impact of such participation on school staff and resources, and determine whether there is a need for a statutory amendment and Board policy, guidelines, or regulations to provide consistency in these local school board policies and practices.
