SUMMARY:
Convenience Store Safety Act. Establishes safety requirements for certain convenience and grocery stores that are (i) part of a chain of at least five stores; (ii) primarily engaged in the retail sale of groceries, including beer, or groceries and gasoline; (iii) between 1800 and 5,000 square feet (devoted to the display and sale of merchandise); and (iv) open between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Under the bill, additional requirements are imposed upon such stores where certain crimes have been committed. Violators of the bill are subject to a civil penalty of up to $200.
