SUMMARY:
Fees for counsel appointed for minors. Provides that a court may order payment of fees by the parents of a minor for counsel appointed to represent the minor if the parents are deemed indigent under Supreme Court guidelines but, nevertheless, have an ability to pay all or part of the statutorily prescribed fee. Cuurently, this fee is a maximum of $100 and can only be assessed when the parents refuse to pay but have the ability. This bill also raises the maximum fee to $250.
