SUMMARY:
Virginia Racing Commission; retainage. Increases the retainage on pari-mutuel pools for win, place or show wagers to 18.25 percent, of which, one-quarter of one percent is directed to go the Virginia Equine Research and Improvement Fund created by this bill. The bill also increases the retainage on pari-mutuel pools on all other wagers to 22.25 percent, of which, one-quarter of one percent is directed to go the Virginia Equine Research and Improvement Fund. The Virginia Equine Research and Improvement Fund is to be administered by the Virginia Racing Commission for the benefit of the Marion DuPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg, a part of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. The proceeds of the fund are to be used for equine research, breeding, showing, racing, nutritional health and marketing.
