SUMMARY:

Diesel-powered mining equipment. Requires that certain new diesel powered equipment utilized after July 1, 1998, be equipped with particulate filters and that all such equipment utilized after July 1, 2003 be retrofitted with particulate filters. The requirements of the bill are contingent on the filters receiving United States Mine Safety and Health Administration certification and the commercial availability of the filters. The bill also contains a reenactment clause.
