1997 SESSION
HB 2840 Foster care; child support.
Introduced by: Frank D. Hargrove, Sr. | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Foster care; child support. Specifically authorizes the local boards of social services to require parents of children voluntarily placed in foster care to pay child support during the term of the foster care agreement in an amount which does not affect the ability of the parent to implement a foster care plan. Similar authority currently exists for foster care arrangements resulting from a court's finding of abuse or neglect. If a parent fails to pay pursuant to an agreement, the local board is authorized to obtain a court order for support which is enforceable as other support orders (either through the court's contempt power or as a civil judgment).
