1997 SESSION
HB 2637 Habitual offenders.
Introduced by: James F. Almand | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Habitual offenders. Allows the court, with the defendant's consent, to sentence an habitual offender convicted of driving after his license was suspended to an alternative intermediate sanction ( e.g., boot camp, detention center, diversion center) in lieu of imposing a minimum, mandatory term of incarceration. An evaluation must be conducted prior to sentencing to a program and findings made that the alternative commitment is in the best interests of the Commonwealth and the defendant.
