SUMMARY:
General district courts; civil jurisdiction. Increases the maximum jurisdictional limits of the general district courts from $10,000 to $15,000, applicable to any civil claim for (i) specific property, (ii) any debt, fine or other money, or (iii) damages for breach of contract or for injury to a person or property recoverable by action at law or in equity. It similarly increases such amount for attachment cases. The bill also provides that the circuit court may increase the ad damnum by amendment in any action removed or, if an appeal is filed by the defendant, appealed.
