SUMMARY:

Commissioners of the revenue and treasurers; pilot program for sales tax collection and registration of motor vehicles. Creates a two-year pilot program beginning January 1, 1998, whereby seven commissioners of the revenue and the treasurers of the same localities shall (i) register businesses as dealers and receive the sales and use tax collected by dealers within their jurisdiction as agents of the Commonwealth and (ii) register motor vehicles having situs in their respective jurisdiction and collect associated fees.
