SUMMARY:
Lobbyists' disclosure reports and campaign finance disclosure reports; electronic database and filings. Provides for an electronic database for information filed by lobbyists and by campaign committees for candidates for the General Assembly, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General. The bill provides for approval of standards for electronic filings by the Secretary of the Commonwealth and the State Board of Elections for lobbyists' and campaign finance committees' disclosure reports, respectively, by January 1, 1998. Electronic filing is an option and not mandated. The Secretary and State Board are required to accept electronic filings after January 1, 1999, and may accept electronic filings before that date. Beginning in 1999, the Secretary and State Board must create disclosure databases available to the public.
