HB 2235 Racing Commission; licenses for Colonial Downs.

Introduced by: George W. Grayson | all patrons    ...    notes | add to my profiles

SUMMARY:

Virginia Racing Commission; licenses. Extends from July 1, 1997, to September 1, 1997, the date by which live racing at Colonial Downs must occur before the right to operate the two existing satellite facilities is cut off. The bill contains technical amendments to accomplish this. The bill reenacts the Code sections enacted by Chapter 915 of the 1996 Acts of Assembly for which reenactment by the 1997 General Assembly is required. Chapter 915 permitted the two satellite facilities already licensed by the Racing Commission (in Richmond and Chesapeake) to open, but specified conditions that must be met by July 1, 1997, if they are to remain open. The chapter also prohibited the Commission from issuing any additional licenses for satellite facilities unless those same conditions are met by July 1, 1997.
