SUMMARY:

Virginia Retirement System; Medical Board and Retirement System Review Board. Strikes the Medical Board and the Retirement System Review Board from the listing of authorized collegial bodies and boards within the executive branch of government. The listings are no longer appropriate or accurate in that the Retirement System became an independent agency of state government in 1994. The bill also increases the number of physicians on the Medical Board from three to four to accommodate a steady rise in disability retirement applications due to psychiatric-related conditions.
